Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your use of Research Assistant ("the App"). By accessing or using the App, you agree to these terms.

1. Eligibility and Authorized Use

The App is intended solely for use by medical professionals, researchers, and other authorized personnel. Access requires a valid Google account and explicit authorization from the App administrator. You may not share your account credentials or authorize access on behalf of another person.

2. Purpose

The App is a tool to assist with the discovery, review, and organization of medical and scientific literature. It is a productivity aid and is not a substitute for professional clinical judgment. Nothing produced by the App constitutes medical advice.

3. Your Responsibilities

• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of any API keys, email credentials, and other sensitive values you enter into the App.
• You must not use the App to access, store, or transmit patient health information (PHI) or any other data subject to HIPAA or similar regulations. The App is not HIPAA-compliant.
• You must not use the App to circumvent rate limits or terms of service of third-party APIs (PubMed, OpenAI, Google, etc.).
• You must not attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' data, the underlying infrastructure, or Google services beyond your own authorized account.

4. Google Services

The App uses Google OAuth for authentication and the Google Drive API to store research files. Your use of Google services through this App is also subject to Google's Terms of Service. You grant the App only the permissions necessary to perform its stated functions in your designated Drive folder.

5. Third-Party AI Services

If you configure API keys for OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google Gemini, you are responsible for compliance with those services' terms of use. Do not submit content through those integrations that you are not authorized to share with third-party AI providers.

6. Data and Privacy

Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

7. No Warranty

The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. The administrator makes no guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that results will be accurate or complete. Literature search results depend on PubMed and may not be exhaustive.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the administrator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to loss of data, missed articles, or decisions made based on App output.

9. Changes to These Terms

These Terms may be updated at any time. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. The date at the top of this page reflects the last revision.
